The Importance of Tissue Quality for Personalized Medicine
Leading experts of the European Society of Digestive Oncology (ESDO) in the field of gastrointestinal cancer discussed new recommendations for the clinical relevance of molecular diagnostics during the 17th European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) world congress on gastrointestinal cancer in Barcelona.
The experts agreed that quality control for samples used in proteomics, metabolomics, transcriptomics, or targeted analytical applications are of outstanding importance. The lack of standardized, high-quality, and clinically annotated human biospecimens poses a significant roadblock to cancer drug and biomarker development.
You can find the published recommendations here.
How Can Indivumed Help?
To meet the demand for quality-controlled biospecimens, Indivumed has set the gold standard for biospecimens and clinical data collection in a growing global network of hospitals in Germany, the U.S., Poland, and India.
Our biobanking expertise is SOP-guided, ISO 9001-certified, and includes strict quality control, rapid processing of tissue, liquids, and validated clinical data. Indivumed manages and documents crucial pre-analytical variables that include tumor location to address heterogeneity, intrasurgical, and cold ischemia times to address variability in gene and protein expression and drug treatment status.
